Hello!

Welcome to my miniatures blog. Thanks for stopping by. Updates to works-in-progress, notes, random thoughts, and reviews will be posted here.

I first got into minis when I saw some D&D stuff at a local hobby shop/toy store. My grandparents bought me a couple sets of monsters and beasties, a few paints, and a brush. Of course I was a terrible painter by any modern standard, but hell, I was about eight years old. When I recently looked, I couldn’t find any of those figures so I can’t post photos of them. I think they may have been garage sale’d during my teen years. Also among the unfound was my set of TMNT minis which I’m filing under epic fail.

The oldest minis I own are a couple of sets of Marvel minis made by TSR from 1984, and some DC minis by Grenadier made about the same year or so. Only missing Doctor Octopus who I think got traded away for something too far past to remember. Here are some photos of the paint as I applied it then.

And here are some photos of some stuff I was doing the last time I painted. First up are a couple of Space Marines in an urban style camo ready for some city fighting.

I really like the concept, the execution needs work.

Here is another fella I was working on about the time I stopped painting.

So… now I’m ready to paint again. All my old paints have dried (about 25 pots of GW) and I need to re-up. Any poor souls who are still reading this should feel free to give me thoughts on paints. Should I get the Vallejo game color set or something different?

Bonus Photo: A group of Tau painted by my then girlfriend/now wife.

What should I paint first?
